“Franco” responsible?
20 May 2011
If you’ve visited our new website or heard about us through the news media, you may be aware that we promote Château Laurier Québec as a "Francoresponsible" hotel. And you may be wondering just what that means.
Francoresponsibility is a firm commitment we’ve made to promote La Francophonie…French language and culture at home and abroad…every day here in our hotel. And it’s a true mark of distinction because we’re the first Francoresponsible business outside Europe! So what does it really mean? Among other things, it means exhibits by French-speaking artists. Concerts by French-speaking performers…playing their music in our public spaces and supporting a new generation of French artists, like singer Annie Poulin. It means we offer our guests free admission to the Musée de l’Amérique française and the Centre de la francophonie des Amériques, It means collecting books for underprivileged French-speaking ("francophone") communities around the world. And these are just few examples!
Isn’t new experience what travel is all about? A chance to open up and enjoy new cultures. Our commitment to Francoresponsibility helps visitors to Quebec experience its unique place in La Francophonie in a totally authentic way. At the same time, we’re glad to accommodate our guests in other languages for their convenience…including English, Spanish, German and Japanese.
If you’d like to learn more about La Francophonie, you could start by reading the official entry in Wikipedia.
